Admission Exam
1. Study on the drum with ropes from the “classical” repertoire – for example, J. Delecluse, V. Firth, T. Atkatz, etc.
2. Possible study for drum with ropes or field drum (marching band) that involves the use of “rudiments” – for example, C. Wilcoxon.
3. Performance on the xylophone – study specifically composed for the instrument or taken from the performance practice repertoire of other instruments – for example, J. S. Bach and/or others.
4. Performance on the marimba – study specifically composed for the instrument or taken from the performance practice repertoire of other instruments – for example, J. S. Bach and/or others.
5. Performance on the vibraphone – study specifically composed for the instrument or taken from the performance practice repertoire of other instruments – for example, J. S. Bach and/or others.
6. Performance on the timpani – 4 drums with tuning changes.
7. Study for setup – solo repertoire – or on the drum set (jazz/pop/rock/ethnic drums).
8. At least one orchestral excerpt taken from the lyric-symphonic repertoire for drum with ropes, xylophone, glockenspiel, two cymbals, and tambourine.
9. Possible sight-reading.
The committee has the discretion to listen to the entire or partial presentation of the program. Pieces with piano accompaniment are also allowed.
